The Mansion House Scholarship Scheme

Mansion House Scholars Jim Wang from Taiwan and Chidubem Agwuncha from Nigeria shown here with the Lord Mayor, Alderman David Wootton, at the Department of Trade & Industry Dinner held at Mansion House in the City of London on Wednesday 7th March 2012

The purpose of this website is to provide information about the Scheme and to act as a portal and a communications link between current and past Scholars, via the Alumni Corner.

The Scheme was founded in 1997 when Sir Richard Nichols, then Lord Mayor in the City of London, was particularly impressed during his overseas visits by the high regard in which the City is held by foreign business communities and by the number of students who wished to study in the UK in schools and colleges through business attachments, executive exchanges, and management training. The list of countries visited in any one year by the Lord Mayor is impressive. During the latter half of 2012, he will visit Thailand, Philippines, Singapore, Croatia, Slovenia, Kazakhstan, Russia, China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, India, Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina! The Alumni of well over 100 Mansion House Scholars now come from 46 countries.

Arising from these visits over the past fifteen years, Scholarships have been made available to overseas students taking Masters level degree courses at British Universities or for training and work experience in the United Kingdom's financial services industry. The training generally takes place in London, but is flexible depending on requirements. For further information please look at the 'Eligibilty' and other sections of this website.
